About the TOEFL

Institutional TOEFL
The Intensive English Program offers the TOEFL once per term. Students who wish to take this test must register in the office and pre-pay. There is a $30.00 fee for the test. The Institutional TOEFL is an in-house test and therefore not accepted for admission to universities outside the University of Dayton.

The test has three parts: (1) Listening, (2) Structure, and (3) Reading. It has a score range of 0-677.

NOTE: All students in the TOEFL preparation class must take the TOEFL. Persons who arrive late for the test will not be seated. Neither late arrivals nor students who fail to arrive will have their test fees refunded.

Internet-based TOEFL (TOEFL iBT)
The internet-based TOEFL is offered throughout most regions of the world and the score is accepted internationally.

The University of Dayton is now a test site for the TOEFL iBT!

The test has four parts: 1) Reading; 2) Listening, 3) Speaking and 4) Writing. Test scores range between 0-120.

Students can find more details about the iBT online at http://www.toefl.org. To schedule an appointment for the Internet-based TOEFL, call 1-800-468-6335 (in the U.S.) or find a Regional Registration Center. Students may also register online.

The Internet-based test is replacing the computer-based and paper-based TOEFL beginning in 2006. The computer-based and paper-based versions of the test will be given at certain locations until the Internet-based TOEFL is implemented in that area.
