Roshini: A Diwali Celebration
Diwali, the festival of lights, is the most popular of all the festivals from South Asia, especially India. The name of the festival comes from the Sanskrit word Dipavali meaning "row of lights." The festival of lights represents the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance, and a renewed commitment to friendship and goodwill. The celebration will include an Indian Cultural program and traditional Indian food.

Special Presentation: Gamelan Info Session with Arlene Chongson
Professor Chongson will introduce the gamelan, a traditional Indonesian instrumental ensemble composed mainly of percussion instruments such as xylophones, chimes and gongs. A gamelan orchestra will be forming on campus next semester. Come learn more at the info session!

Megaconference X
You can attend a conference to learn about different cultures and global issues without actually travelling. The "Megaconference" is an unusual use of videoconferencing technology to connect teams from around the world to share 15 minute presentations on a variety of topics from serious academic to humorous issues. Have you ever considered an international sabbatical? A panel of faculty will share their international sabbatical experiences. Come hear about what they did and how they planned for it. Gain insight and tips from their experiences. Panelists will also share other issues related to an international sabbatical that will be important to consider. Directed by Vincent Paronnaud and Marjane Satrapi (2007). This animated film brings to life the poignant story of a young girl in 1970's Iran. Citizens of the World
Hosting an international scholar can be an excellent way to internationalize! Joint research, guest lecturing and collaborative teaching are all opportunities to engage visiting scholars. Come to learn from others who have invited scholars to campus from around the world. The practical considerations of the invitation process, as well as planning to make sure the scholar is welcomed, integrated into campus life, and has access to the facilities and services will also be discussed.

UD Arts Series: Project
Defying all genres, this young trio—cello, flute and bass— is classically trained, but will blow all expectations out of the water. Fusing jazz, world music, and even hip-hop with their classical roots, Project is the next generation of music. While all three musicians have exceptional credentials and have played with such greats as Wynton Marsalis and the Cleveland Orchestra, it's Greg Pattillo on flute who most often astounds with his "beat box" treatment of the flute.

Allah Made Me Funny: The Movie
This landmark concert film follows three acclaimed comedians on stage and off as they lift the veil to reveal the humorous truth of what it's really like to be Muslim in America. Allah Made Me Funny: Live in Concert is rollicking good fun and gives people of all cultural backgrounds an opportunity to laugh hard, drop their guard and open their minds. Running time: 83 minutes.
