Students

Exploring a section of the world during college presents a valuable challenge and experience that many find unforgettable. Whether you’re scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef or strolling through the markets of Marrakech, your education is certain to be made richer through a study abroad experience. Because opportunities for education abroad exist through many different types of programs, each student can find an experience that best suits their academic program, interests and future goals.

At the University of Dayton, we offer numerous ways to travel abroad as a student.

Summer Study Abroad Program: These four to five week interdisciplinary summer sessions allow students to earn up to nine credit hours while using the culture and architecture of a city to develop skills in communications, art, political science, natural sciences, music, history, language and more. Courses are taught by University of Dayton faculty members and are offered during two separate sessions during the summer. Combining two sessions (at two different sites) can equal a full semester of academic credit.

Language immersion: Students can develop their language skills through daily use and intensive study of the language and culture during language immersion programs. The University offers language programs in Canada, Germany, Chile and Spain.

Academic programs: The School of Business Administration, School of Engineering and Department of Biology offer programs abroad which incorporate coursework in the specified area of study. The School of Business Administration and School of Engineering offer academic year and summer programs. The Department of Biology offers summer programs only. Other academic programs may be available.

Academic year abroad: Students may choose to study for a full semester or full year abroad through one of our exchange programs or affiliate programs.

Service learning/Cultural immersion: Campus organizations such as the Center for Social Concern coordinate service-learning experiences over the summer and spring break which immerse students in the culture, language and customs of the country. Through job placements, interaction with host families and travel through the country, students are introduced to the country’s way of life.
