Eligibility
In order to be eligible to participate in the St.
Mary's University Exchange Program, a student must satisfy
the following requirements:
- Completion of at least 30 degree hours at the University of Dayton
prior to beginning classes at St. Mary's University
- Must have a current GPA of 2.5+
and no record of disciplinary
violations
- Approval from your Dean's office
Students will be selected based on the criteria mentioned above as well as their commitment to intercultural development and learning.
For this reason, when completing the application, students should give special consideration to their essay. The essay should
convey to the committee the student’s interest in intercultural learning as well as the student’s plans for using the
St. Mary's University
Exchange Program to further develop intercultural competence.
Application Process
Please complete the following steps in order to be considered for the
St. Mary's University Exchange Program:

Step 1: Complete the Marianist University Exchange Program application.
Application deadlines are March 1 for the fall semester and October 1
for the spring semester.

Step 2: Request a letter of recommendation from a UD faculty member. This letter of recommendation should be sent
by the faculty member to
tina.manco@notes.udayton.edu.

Upon approval of the UD/SMU Exchange Committee,
you be mailed a packet of relevant information about orientation, housing, course registration, etc.
Conditions of Participation
- All students on the St. Mary's University exchange must participate in an orientation program.
- Students must maintain all eligibility requirements even after having been officially accepted to the UD/CU Exchange
Program, i.e., 2.5 GPA, completion of a minimum of 30 hours, and no disciplinary write-ups.
- Upon return to the University of Dayton, students will complete the Exchange Program’s final two requirements:
1) a written report on the cultural and service experiences and 2) attend
one orientation session for those students
going to St. Mary's University in the upcoming term.
