This application is for students from the University of Dayton who would like to attend a Marianist university for a semester as an exchange student.

Application deadlines:
Chaminade University—Applications for the 2010-11 school year (fall 2010 and spring 2011) will be accepted from December 30, 2009 through January 31, 2010. Selection decisions will be announced March 1, 2010. Students will receive an e-mail to their University of Dayton account.

St. Mary's University—Application deadlines are March 1 for the Fall semester and October 1 for the Spring semester.

In order to participate in the exchange program you must have a recommendation letter from one of your present or past professors. In the recommendation letter the professor should state why you should be considered for this program and how the exchange program would benefit you in your studies. Please have the professor send the letter of recommendation via e-mail to tina.manco@notes.udayton.edu.

Which Marianist University are you applying for?

Applications for the Chaminade University program are only accepted between December 29 and January 31 for the following school year.

Please explain in detail how a semester of study at Chaminade or St. Mary's University will enhance your undergraduate experience. Explain what types of courses, which are unique at both universities, will contribute to the enrichment of your academic experience. Elaborate on how this opportunity will assist in helping you achieve your career goals as well as contribute to your personal growth and understanding of UD's model of Learn, Lead and Serve. Identify what type of activities in which you will be involved, and how this will contribute to your understanding of cultural diversity, Marianist community building, and servant leadership.

You may cut and paste your essay from a MS Word document. Please be thorough in your explanation as the selection process is competitive and your essay will be taken into consideration by the selection committee.


 

Conditions of participation
  1. I will maintain all eligibility requirements even after having been officially accepted to the Marianist University Exchange Program, i.e., 2.5 GPA, completion of a minimum of 30 hours, and no disciplinary write-ups.


  2. If attending Chaminade University, I will participate in a required service project through Chaminade University's Campus Ministry program while in Honolulu. A member of Campus Ministry will write a letter indicating successful completion of each student's service project and send the letter to the University of Dayton's Center for International Programs.


  3. I will participate in the cultural program opportunities planned for the University of Dayton students while in Honolulu or San Antonio.


  4. Upon return to the University of Dayton, students will complete the Exchange Program’s final two requirements: 1) a written report on the cultural and service experiences and 2) attend one orientation session for those students going to Marianist universities in the upcoming term.

Student responsibility
By submitting this application, I hereby authorize the release of information from my student academic and disciplinary records upon request to the Center for International Programs. I certify that the information on this application is correct and understand that if selected to become a participant in the program, I shall be subject to all rules, regulations and requirements of the University of Dayton. I understand that I must: 1) be a UD student who has completed 30 hours at the end of the current term; 2) have a current cumulative GPA of 2.5; and 3) have no serious disciplinary violations. I also give the Center for International Programs permission to notify the Counseling Center and Student Learning Support of my application with the understanding that these two offices will not provide the Center for International Programs with any information unless I have given further permission beyond this statement.
