Angers’ metropolitan population of 260,000 is home to more than 30,000 students, and the town is located equidistant from Paris (less than two hours by high-speed train) and the Atlantic Ocean. This total immersion program combines intensive language courses at the Université Catholique de l’Ouest (UCO) with organized evening activities and weekend excursions with students from all over the world also studying in Angers. Students attend language classes during the day and stay with French host families to experience total immersion in French language and culture. The program includes two day-long excursions to nearby sights. Program cost includes room and board with French family, UCO tuition, two excursions as well as local field trips. Marburg’s quaint setting, warm hospitality and thriving student population make it an ideal setting for a study abroad program. Marburg’s main church, the Elizabethkirche, is the oldest pure Gothic church in Germany and one of the many historic treasures of the region. The University of Marburg, founded at the beginning of the Reformation in 1527, serves as a cultural and sporting center for the area. The Marburg program is offered in affiliation with Speak and Write, a private language school serving business, professional and college-aged students. The program concentrates on developing oral skills and is intended to facilitate rapid language acquisition for everyday life. Participants register for both courses for a total of 6 credits.
