Marianist Universities Exchange Program:
Chaminade University


The application deadline for the 2008-09 school year (Fall 2008 and Spring 2009) was January 30, 2008.

Applications for the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 semesters will be accepted from December 29, 2008-January 30, 2009.

Eligibility
In order to be eligible to participate in the Chaminade University Exchange Program, a student must satisfy the following requirements:
  • Completion of at least 30 degree hours at the University of Dayton prior to beginning classes at Chaminade University


  • Must have a current GPA of 2.5+
  • and no record of disciplinary violations

  • Approval from your Dean's office
    Business students should contact their academic advisor and the SBA Advising Center before applying. Chaminade University is not an AACSB accredited business program and business courses will not transfer back to UD or satisfy UD business degree requirements.
Students will be selected based on the criteria mentioned above as well as their commitment to intercultural development and learning. For this reason, when completing the application, students should give special consideration to their essay. The essay should convey to the committee the student’s interest in intercultural learning as well as the student’s plans for using the Chaminade University Exchange Program to further develop intercultural competence.


Application Process
Please complete the following steps in order to be considered for the Chaminade University Exchange Program:

Step 1: Complete the Marianist University Exchange Program application. Applications for the 2009-10 school year (Fall 2009 and Spring 2010) will be accepted December 29, 2008 through January 30, 2009 only.

Step 2: Request a letter of recommendation from a UD faculty member. This letter of recommendation should be sent by the faculty member to tina.manco@notes.udayton.edu.

Students will be notified of the committee's admission decision by March 1, 2009. Students will receive an email to their University of Dayton account. Upon approval of the UD/CU Exchange Committee, you will be mailed a packet of relevant information about orientation, housing, course registration, etc.


Conditions of Participation
  • All students on the Chaminade University exchange must participate in an orientation program which includes an online orientation as well as two two-hour orientation sessions. Failure to participate in the orientation program may result in dismissal from the program.


  • Participation is limited to a small group of students each semester.


  • Students must maintain all eligibility requirements even after having been officially accepted to the UD/CU Exchange Program, i.e., 2.5 GPA, completion of a minimum of 30 hours, and no disciplinary write-ups.


  • Students will participate in a required service project through Chaminade University's Campus Ministry program while in Honolulu. A member of Campus Ministry will write a letter indicating successful completion of each student's service project and send the letter to the University of Dayton's Center for International Programs.


  • Students will participate in the cultural program opportunities planned for the University of Dayton students while in Honolulu.


  • Upon return to the University of Dayton, students will complete the Exchange Program’s final two requirements: 1) a written report on the cultural and service experiences and 2) attend one orientation session for those students going to Chaminade University in the upcoming term.
