Intent to Participate Form | Request for Proposals

The Center for International Programs (CIP) is pleased to invite faculty to apply for a 2011 Summer Study Abroad Program. Study abroad programs provide unique opportunities to promote intercultural and international learning and engagement, a central focus of the University’s Vision of Excellence and Strategic Plan. All faculty members, including lecturers and part-time, are welcome to apply.

2011 Summer Study Abroad Application Steps
  1. Submit Intent to Participate Form
    Deadline: December 11, 2009

Data requested at this stage include basic details such as site location, type of program, classes, program theme, and other faculty who would participate, as available.

The purpose of Intent to Participate form is to simplify the process and provide feedback to faculty before time is invested in a full proposal. Information from the Intent to Participate stage will give the CIP an early and more comprehensive overview of the potential curricular mix and geographic scope of faculty interests in summer study opportunities. In addition, it will allow for the opportunity to match faculty with similar interests and/or give feedback that may impact the development of a full proposal.

Submitting an Intent to Participate form does not obligate you to complete a full proposal. However, we request that interested faculty submit an Intent to Participate form to be eligible to participate in the full proposal process. Even if you are not sure about submitting a full proposal, please consider completing an Intent to Participate form. It should only take a few minutes to complete.

  2. Submit Full proposal
    Deadline: February 12, 2010 at 4:30 pm

The full proposal application and detailed description of the 2011 program must be submitted by February 12, 2010 at 4:30 pm. Faculty who complete the full proposal will be asked to provide specific information such as program description, use of the site to deliver the program, course details, collaborations with other faculty, and prior international experience.

The Education Abroad Advisory and Selection Committee will review the proposals and make recommendations to CIP for 2011.

  3. Announcement of 2011 sites and faculty
Faculty will be notified of selections in early April 2010.
